Did digital technologies made the way to becoming an artist more easy for people with no talent?
Not at all. The technologies merely provide new tools, the way colored dust made way for oils, acrylics gave some advantage to oils, digital cameras have some advantages over film. But none of these things can actually create art. It still takes skill to create good works. One can’t expect anyone with no artistic skill to, suddenly, create works of art, simply because he spent some money on Photoshop. Even someone who has spent a LOT of time learning how to use Photoshop or any of those digital applications, still won’t know what makes good art. Think of it this way. If you were to put a crappy driver behind the wheel of a hundred thousand dollar sports car, would that make him a good driver? If you were to take a fumble fingered teenager a garage full of powered shop tools, would he, now be able to produce good cabinetry as good as a real craftsman with nothing but hand tools? For me, the advent of digital tools means that I can do the same work I did with brush on paper, much faster
