Did Mike Tyson bite Evander Holyfields ear because Holyfield was headbutting him and the ref did nothing?
The impact and belief was that Mike was an animal who was mad that he was outclassed by Evander. I believe otherwise. Me being the Tyson “historian”, I know that Tyson did it for A.) Retaliation for unpunished headbutting, B.) To void the future contracts he had with Don King, and C.) Mike Tyson’s favorite movie is Raging Bull and in it, someone suggests biting another fighter. All this in combination made for a chunk out of Evander’s ear. Although it was later found out that the headbutts were a result of styles clashing and not intentional, but Mike and others of course could not know that at the time.
