Did pres. Truman make the correct decision in dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima?
I have studied this question and watched several documentaries about it. It was horrible, but remember it was the first time nuclear weapons had ever been used on a city… Noone had any idea (even several days later when it was used on Nagasaki) about how the radiation was going to have longlasting effects and make people suffer the way they did. The Japanese believed that Americans were “soft” and would eventually be defeated by their ferocious “warriors” after all, they were prepared to sacrifice their young men as kamikazes and we were too soft to ever do such a thing. We had been trying to attack only military installations, and they were prepared to attack our civilians. (Check on this because they tried to invade Oregon during the war and they also mowed down civilians aplenty at Pearl Harbor.)
