Did the Cold War affect Canada?

As a member of the British Commonwealth/Empire, Yes, but the more so since Canada is on the border of Russia. True there is a huge moat called The Arctic Ocean between most of Canada and Russia but in an age of multi-engine jet bombers and intercontiental missiles that moat was easilly jumped. Canada was a shield against Soviet Russia protecting the US of A. Deep in the Canadadian North wilderness radar & missile stations were built because of the Cold War and much of Canada thay might have gone untapped (trashed & raped) were explored and then exploited for raw materials and to make military bases boh comfortable and accessible via roads & air-bases.. For better or worse Canada became more & more subservient to the demands of the US of A, forced to allow access to its Arctic Islands and to allow the spread of Nuclear Weapons across Canada and to support American policies across the Globe. Canada’s identity as a Sovereign Nation was badly eroded by the Cold War. Just as Eastern Europe
