Did the romans improve life in britain?

For the average individual, no. As in all parts of the empire including Italy, the vast majority lived on the land, rarely travelled and had very limited access to the urban centres where Roman technical influence was prevalent, nor did they directly benefit from Roman infrastructure. The Romans did end the endemic petty warfare that existed under the British kings which the average worker was likely thankful for. On the flipside Roman taxes were substantial and their government venal and high handed. So on balance the improvements were very limited.
