Did they not realise you could cook refried beans, guacamole and a nice salsa without an oven?
SW: We were just flabbergasted. I’d always thought it can’t have been that bad, but it was worse. They really didn’t have a clue. I sat there and said to them: “Did you not do any gucamole or anything like that?” and they were like, “what?”. Even if you didn’t know anything about Mexican food, you should know that. TVS: Chris was also moaning that he didn’t have to be here, and he could be at home watching the football. SW: I know! I think they felt that we should almost be grateful that they even opened the restaurant in the first place. There’s a whole plethora of cold dishes that you could do with Mexican food. Not a bag of Doritos on the table. They could have made so much than that, and I think they were expecting us to congratulate them just for opening.
