I didn’t know that. The only facts know for certain about Saint George was that he worked as a Roman Soldier, who had noble parents and was executed for his Christian beliefs by order of Diocletian at Nicomedia on 23 April, 303AD. In the 5th century AD many supposed “facts” about Saint George were “revealed” by the Church. Supposedly his father was a from Cappadocia in Asia Minor (modern day Turkey) and his mother was from Lod in Ludaea (in modern day Israel) and he himself was born in Anatolia (modern day Turkey). I can’t see how Saint George could be a Palestinian because he was executed in 303 AD and Palestine was only created in 330 AD. It seems strange to say someone comes from a province which did not exist until 27 years after their death, especially because there is no contemporary evidence that he ever went there only stories which began a century after his death.

George of Lydda, known as Saint George, was supposedly born in Cappadoce, a country that doesn’t exist anymore and is part of modern Turkey. His tomb is in Lydda.
