Did Whitman fake a town hall meeting?
UPDATED Steve Poizner, who is running behind Meg Whitman in the Republican gubernatorial race, is charging that Whitman faked a town hall meeting Wednesday in Santa Ana. Participants were screened, Poizner said, and then were told to “re-ask” their questions so that Whitman could get another chance to answer them. Whitman is going to use the town hall as a 30-minute campaign commercial broadcast statewide. Poizner offers the following video as proof that Whitman phonied up the town hall meeting. The video is clunky and some of the audio is difficult to hear. Sarah Pompei of the Whitman campaign says this is much ado about nothing, and the event was always planned as a campaign commercial. She added that Californians will begin seeing the Whitman commercial in the next few weeks. You can view the Poizner campaign’s version of events by clicking on the YouTube video below.
