Medically: A great number of the soldiers that fought in the trenches on all sides, brought on returning home a great number of trench diseases with them, The medical profession of the day had very little or no knowledge of such ailments and no medicines to treat them, this combined with a non existing national heath system, took further tolls on the trench soldier.Same of the ailments were trench fever, lung ailments due to gassing,shell shock, invalidity due to physical wounding and many more. looking after these soldiers placed great burdens on families, for which they receive very little or no support. Education: Here we are looking a liberal society that didn’t believe in educating the masses, and literacy was not the order of the day for working class people.It was believe by those in power that too much education would bring about a drastic shift in the parliamentary power balance.
