Did you ever wonder why Lois Lane and others could not recognize Superman behind his glasses and suit?

With Superman, the focus is really on the uniform. Neon lycra really dulls any recall I have of what a person’s facial shape looks like. Clark Kent is supposed to be an everyman from the story of it, but every picture I’ve seen of him has him built like a refrigerator. That alone might tip off some of the more observant folks, but it seems like most people only interact with him for a short time, and he’s usually off at a distance doing supermanly deeds. Lois Lane is a harder sell, that she didn’t pick up on anything. She may well have been distracted by the lycra as well, but you’d think she’d remember the shape of Clark’s face, having been so close to him for so long. The only explanation I could possibly come up with there is that she never really had much quiet, contemplative time with Superman- he’d usually show up in time to save the day, when the adrenaline is pumping so much that no one remembers much in detail.
