Do Automakers MSRP Prices Include State Sales Tax?
The manufacturer’s suggested retail price, or MSRP is without tax. In fact, the price doesn’t include a number of fees. Often there are dealer fees like destination charge, dealer prep and other charges that can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and dealer to dealer. Sales tax and license and registration are not included, in part because they vary by state (and sometimes county and local municipality). So, the short answer is that MSRP does not include state sales tax. It is sort of a base price to consider when shopping for a car, but is more like a “suggested” price you’ll find on a tag in a store.
