Not usually, but they could. It sounds like he might be teething. Whatever you do, DO NOT use the baby Orajel. Baby orajel is numbing ointment, what happens with babies is that they swallow it and it could cause their throats to numb up, preventing them from swallowing correclty and causing them to choke. Buy those little teething rings or toys and put them in the fridge for cool comfort. A little Tylenol will really help the baby, especially if he’s running a fever, which teething often does. Don’t worry so much about the blood, my son uses to knaw on his bottom lip with his gums and make them bleed a little. Sometimes he would suck his lip so hard it would cause a hickey like mark and would bleed a little…no worries! Good luck!
