Do ballet dancers have pretty feet?
No. Our feet are ugly. Aside from ever present calluses and blisters, most girls who have been on pointe for a while have some funky toe stuff going on. There are either gaps, bunions, toes (or toenails) growing funny, or just lots of scarring along the toes from too much rubbing. The toenails are very short, and the skin around them is tough and thick. We’re more likely to have corns or ingrown toenails than most people (I think – I’ve never had either, but I know lots of girls who have) and we are way more likely to have some form of injury that will uglify the foot. That’s only barefoot though – what matters to dancers is how the foot looks in toe shoes (or flats), and then, yes, ballet dancers do have pretty feet.
