Do Building Permits Expire?
Building Permits expire by limitation and become null and void if work has not started within 180 days. Before a permit expires, a one time extension not exceeding 180 days may be granted upon written request by the permittee showing that circumstances beyond their control have prevented construction to begin. If a permit expires but is less than one year old, the permittee may request a new permit provided there have been no changes to the original plans and specifications. The new required fee shall be one half the amount for the original permit.
