Do bumble bees sting…?
Yes, if their nesting area is provoked, but don’t confuse Bumble Bees with Carpenter Bees. Carpenter Bees come back to the same areas every year (especially if not treated) to lay their eggs in wood. They are very active in May and June when they are mating. The females drill tunnels through the wood to lay their eggs. They will damage the wood if not treated. Bumble Bees usually nest in the ground or in crawl spaces and are more active in August.
