Do butterfly larvae lose their pro-legs when they become butterflies?

Yes, during metamorphosis the entire body is remodeled head to tail, with caterpillar structures resorbed and butterfly structures developed. I’m not sure (you’d have to ask a developmental entomologist) if the caterpillar’s prolegs have been ‘mapped’ to any specific structure on the butterfly — but butterflies do not have prolegs.
