Cataracts cause blindness but only until they are removed, then vision is clear again. They are normally removed way before that point. Although cataracts is the leading cause of blindness in several 3rd world countries where they don’t have the chance to get the operation. Chances are very high of getting cataracts…if you live long enough , you have a 99% chance. It is a simple operation to remove them now and done thousands of times a year in North America.
