Do characters typed into the computer continue echo in the Terminal screen – even when the jumper wire shorting RX to TX is disconnected?
— An echo will indicate an internal cable short, or an incorrect COM-port configuration. If so, replace the RS232 cable. FINAL SOFTWARE CHECKS IN XWARE 1) If the loop-back test is successful, verify in X-Ware that the correct product is selected. In SETTINGS, verify that the proper PC COM port and device address is selected, that Baud is 9600, Data Bits=8, Stop Bits=1, and Parity=none. 2) Click on the CHECKOUT box under SETTINGS. The response should be “Port Checks out Fine”. Click OK. Click OK again in the SETTINGS dialog screen to exit. Click on CONNECT.
