Do dachshunds have fur or hair?
There is no difference, hair/fun, the same no matter what some breeders try to tell you about their “hypo-allergenic” dogs. Dachshunds have same stuff as other dogs, whether you call it hair or fur. I use a soft brush on my long hair dachshund, widely spaced wire comb when she picks up some burrs in her coat. By the way, your dachshund should not shed all that much, depends on what you are feeding. I feed mine Canidae Chicken and Rice, makes a big difference to feed decent kibble with meat as the first ingredient rather than corn meal junk from the supermarket. Even the Science Diet I used to feed before is corn meal based. Feed decent kibble with meat and no artificial preservatives, and your dachshund will not shed a great deal and the coat will be shiny and the dog won’t have dry skin either.
