Do different types of music elicit different emotions?

Of course! This is the basis of the modern music industry. Typical “clubbing” music has a driving rhythm, the reverse of the human heartbeat, which over time induces a sort of hypnotic state while at the same time accelerating your own heartbeat. I find Renaissance music very relaxing and soothing, while the Romantic period (Beethoven, Shostakovic and some others) are too loud and noisy for my taste. Of course personal taste is a large factor but it’s because of the feelings (emotional and physical) produced that we have certain musical tastes.
