Realistically this depends on the type of girl and also the personality that the tree hugger has - and also whether the two share a connection.
However, as a general overarching statement, I would most likely have to agree and say yes, girls do like tree huggers. Why? Because it's likely the tree hugging guy is in touch with his sensitive side and willing to be active fighting for causes he believes in - like the environment. He cares about the fate of our planet which shows a very moral and nurturing side of to his personality. Characteristics like these will make a good father, which is innately what girls tend to precipitate towards. Additionally, tree hugging guys are less likely to be superficial or insincere in their actions and thoughts. Girls are always more likely to appreciate honesty and open communication in a relationship.

Honestly, I don't see why a girl would turn this type down. It takes a great person to be able to stand up for what they believe in. I think you should be proud of it. My advice, find someone who has the same interests as you. Maybe a fellow tree hugger :) I mean having things in common is what is going to make your relationship lasting and fun.

Most girls love it when a guy is passionate about something (other than gaming and geeking stuff); be it guitar, writing, music, or in your case volunteering. They like it.

I'm a tree hugger too but I don't wear the costume if you know what I mean. Don't worry to much about it and don't let it bother you because people will sense it and they will look down on you. Stand up and be proud of it. You will find more people impressed and wanting to share your views and they will look up to you. A lot of girls like hearing what I have to say and my fiancé loves it (she didn't start as a tree hugger). My best friends cousin won't say it but he has changed his ways because of me, he was always asking questions. Just remember change is gradual and you can't rush it so don't just spew everything you know all over them because who likes to be spewed on? lol Just for example; when you are walking down the street or where ever you are and you see something like litter 10ft. from a garbage can just bring it up casually why it bugs you and don't go overboard, just something quick that gets them thinking.
