Do guinea pigs know the difference between different people?
I think they do. When my boyfriend gets home from work and comes in the house, he makes a different noise than the one he makes when I come home and my boyfriends already home. I’m the one that spoils the piggy, so I think he’s expecting good treats, when my boyfriend is the cage cleaner. My boyfriends daughter causes a fearful noise from the piggy. He’s technically her pet, but she’s only over every other weekend and her attention span for him is less than great, so he’s nervous around her. I know my rats know the difference between people, and their vision is less than great so I’d assume its from smells as well. Animals can tell the difference between two identical looking members of their own species from smell, so why not humans? Edit: Just thought of this. I also have 2 snakes. One is very, very outgoing and doesn’t care who he’s handed off to, he goes willingly and without aggression. Our baby red tail boa on the other hand gets into a defensive posture if someone he doesn’t kno
