Do guinea pigs know the different between different people?

Yes, they can tell who is coming to greet them, by your smell, height, voice and even the way you walk. If you are orientated with food (ie. you are the one that gives them their food), then they will learn that, for example, a light step, a particular smell, my height and the way I make a chtu-chtu-chtu sound (I know it sounds weird!), means that I am coming to hold them or feed them. They run away when my brother or dad comes in because my guinea pigs are not used to them and they don’t bring my piggies anything to eat, so they run away.
