Do I continue to implement the Essential Learnings and Standards?
The Essential Learnings and Standards provide teachers with a model that clearly identifies what students are expected to learn and what teachers should teach in the Knowledge and understanding and Ways of working. The Shape of the Australian curriculum learning area papers included proposed strands or organisers for curriculum content. While some of the names are different to the names of the current organisers within the Essential Learnings, the big ideas presented within each are very similar. Continued implementation of the Essential Learnings and Standards continues to be the best preparation for the transition to the new Australian curriculum.
