Do I have to have special shampoo & combs for human hair wigs?
Absolutely. Most combs and brushes are designed to be just a tiny bit tough on the hair, those little bulbs at the ends of the teeth on a hairbrush are there to tug at your hair, removing any hair that is loose or out of the follicle altogether. Also, a good hairbrush or comb is supposed to distribute natural oil throughout your hair which requires a lot of contact with each hair, this is naturally a bit damaging to your real hair, but the conditioning you get from redistributing your natural hair oils more then makes up for it. Of course there is the additional result of getting rid of all those knots. The only purpose in brushing a wig is to untangled it, there is no need to make it healthier; the less you do the better off your wig will be. (Also I am pretty sure they treat the wigs with a variety of chemicals to keep it looking healthy and beautiful, and you certainly don’t want to scrape those away!)
