Do I need ski goggles or will sunglasses suffice?

If this is your first time skiing, I doubt you will need the goggles, since you will not likely be skiing too fast at first. As your skills increase and your speed you will need a good set of goggles. The snow is just one issue, another is wind burned eyes from skiing fast. Sunglasses will not protect your eyes from the wind that you will generate as you ski. Another issue is the tint of the lenses which will improve your vision in the flat light and glare of the ski slopes. Now with this information you can make a choice for good eye protection or not. You could buy the goggles at the resort, maybe 50 pounds instead of the 30 you are told now. My keyboard is lacking the proper character for your monetary system.
