The electrical installation is covered under the Part P Electrical Regulations. These types of small-scale generators are defined as “Special installations”, irrespective of whether or not they are plugged or wired into the existing electrical systems. You can avoid the need to make a Building Regulation application by using a Government approved Part P certified ‘Competent Person’, who will notify the Local Authority for you.
