Yes. Pressure-treated decks are also prone to rot and decay. Therefore, you should use Grace Vycor Deck Protector to prevent such decks from premature structural degradation. During the pressure-treatment, the preservative does not always completely saturate the wood. The interior parts of the board (i.e. heartwood) usually remain untreated and are vulnerable to decay and dry rot. Cutting pressure-treated wood opens channels for water and decay organisms to get through the chemical barrier to the untreated interior parts, starting the decay process from within. Fastener holes are also common passageways for water and decay microorganisms. Once subject to water and moisture, wood expands and shrinks, causing more cracks and further exposing untreated areas.
