Manually entering the flow rate is acceptable only if you know the exact flow rate of the pump (such as from manually priming the pump and measuring the output). Do not go by pump model information these specs are nominal flow rates for classification purposes, whereas the actual flow rate will vary depending on product viscosity, tubing distances, etc. Auto-calibrating “teaches” the pump the true flow rate and is the recommended method for establishing flow rates on dispensers that have an auto-calibrate function.
