Do Interracial Relationships/Marriages Work?
If over 20 years is considered ‘works’ then yes ;] My wife and I agree that race is irrelavant. CULTURE is far more the problem. We do still find differences even after all the years, but they are insignificant and are always resolved the same way… We work out how we can agree to look at a situation… or we agree to accept that we don’t see eye to eye. Just like any couple has to on many many issues. Few people are brought up so close in manner that they are culturally identical. Additional: One thing I would add is that mixed race marriages have such clear differences that usually the couple are people who show tolerance toward other races and cultures in the first place. Also what differences they perceive are generally defined within the marriage and not put down to one partner being deliberately awkward or nasty. In other words we tend to work harder at resolving our differences.
