I have tried to find some official lines from the Watchtower Organisation, because there is a lot of confusion even amongst Witnesses themselves. here is one article: BLOOD: WHOSE CHOICE AND WHOSE CONSCIENCE? by J. Lowell Dixon, M.D. PHYSICIANS are committed to applying their knowledge, skills, and experience in fighting disease and death. Yet, what if a patient refuses a recommended treatment? This will likely occur if the patient is a Jehovah’s Witness and the treatment is whole blood, packed red blood cells, plasma, or platelets. The Bible shows that God attached a highly important moral principle to blood. God began with commanding Noah and his family to abstain from blood (Gen. 9:4), repeated it through the Mosaic law (Lev. 7:26,27; 17:10, 11, 13, 14) and the command was again clearly stated by the governing body of the early Christian congregation. (Acts 15:28, 29; Acts 15:19, 20) Jehovah’s Witnesses’ detractors have produced much misleading information. Witnesses do NOT accept transfusions of whole blood, red cells, white cells, platelets, or blood plasma. As to minor fractions, such as immune globulin, see The Watchtower of [June 15, 2000, pages 29-31]. With the advances of modern-day medicine, some products are now composed of blood *components*. So how does a Christian who wishes to “abstain from blood” decide whether to accept certain blood-derived medications? Consider
