Do Jews believe in an afterlife like the Christians?

0

Like Christian’s the Jews have varying opinions on the afterlife. As I understand it they believe in a Paradise for those who follow Jehova’s rules and precepts. There are scriptures in the Old Testiment that suggest a place of torment where “the worm dieth not” but for some reason these scriptures are downplayed and MOST Jews do NOT believe in a Hell. Some believe in a place of Pergatory, like in Catholocism, where the unfaithful stay for only a period of time and are later released into Paradise upon finishing a rehabilitating sentance. Others see the unfaithful as quickly burned into nothingness but not in an eternal fire. Some feel all go to Paradise upon death but have the evils removed from within upon entrance. I’m not a Jew by birth an have been raised Christian so this is just my understanding of the Jewish view of the afterlife.
