Do judges receive special training for handling mass-tort and class-action cases?
Generally, judges do not receive special training for handling complex-litigation cases even though a judge may have more managerial duties in a mass-tort or class-action case than in other types of cases due to the number of parties involved. However, some states have established complex-litigation centers where mass-tort and class-action cases are brought before judges familiar with disposing of these kinds of cases.
