I accept VS Mukhina’s definition of passion, but with one caveat , what would constitute stable or unstable. If it was unstable or varying what would be called. Instability including passion have been included as pathognomic of Borderline Personality Disorder. However I don’t buy this definition because BPS, has become either a diagnosis when no other can be found, or applied too freely to minorities. In 2003, Robert Vallerant, et al. published some research titled The Passion scale. It’s a numerical scale asking and rating activities which people are passionate about or not. These activities ranged from making love, to sports, to driving, to going to the cinema etc. Their conclusions were that Passion is Multi Dimensional and stable. The question remains is that we don’t know how many “Passionate Activities were omitteded. I also found positive in your question that passion as a concept involves more than sex and making love. and a broader perspective is always welcome.
