Do muslims eat quorn?
Some hard core facts…. It is not a pork substitute as such, it is a meat substitute. Its origin is actually a soil fungi that is not mushroom…Fusarium venenatum. And the word venenatum is Latin for “filled with venom.” Its safety is questionable: More than 550 Britons and Americans have reported suffering vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, or anaphylactic shock after eating Quorn, the meat substitute made with vat-grown fungus, according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI). http://www.cspinet.org/new/200304231.htm… Medical studies seem to suggest quorn is an allergen…..and potentially serious allergen: http://www.cspinet.
