Do New England Tree Wardens practice urban forestry differently from comparable municipal tree managers elsewhere?
Two somewhat comparable studies suggest that New England tree wardens think and act similarly to other municipal tree care professionals elsewhere. For example, in a comprehensive and detailed national study on trends in urban forestry management, researchers found that the primary focus of a tree care division was the placement, care, and removal of trees in parks and on streets. This corresponds to findings in this study. Unfortunately, the national study did not separate tree replacement from tree removals.
