Do people actually enjoy drinking?
I kinda think there’s two kinds of drinking. Drinking on occasion, for pleasure, and drinking to excess, if you know what I mean. Plenty of people only drink on special occasions, or only have one or two drinks a day, if that. I think those people enjoy drinking. They don’t drink to loosen up at parties, and they know their limits and they set themselves a 1-2 drink limit. I think people who drink to excess and get drunk every weekend, sometimes every day are covering up for something either they’re trying to numb themselves from issues in their life, they have low self esteem and/or low self confidence and feel like they need to get drunk to have fun, etc. I think those people don’t enjoy drinking but they enjoy the escape excess alcohol does to you. I personally think that if people feel like they HAVE to drink and/or get drunk in order to have fun are boring, fake people. If they weren’t boring, they wouldn’t feel the need to get drunk in order to have fun. Everyone can have fun and
I think some people actually enjoy it while others like you said want to enjoy it or think they are supposed to enjoy so believe they enjoy it even though they really don’t. First of all, alcoholics need it…but addition is another story that speaks of trying it once and then become hooked so they can’t stop. Secondly, people like the high that alcohol gives them, just like any drug. So yeah, they like the good effects, if not the consumption and/or side effects (hangovers, etc).
