Do people in certain areas of China eat cats and dogs???
It is not common; but, outside of big cities, pet dogs and cats aren’t common either … 🙂 All joking aside, there is a lot of myth surrounding this. Westerners are generally attached to their pets and find this abhorrent. Other cultures don’t have “pet cultures” like we do. In some cultures, dogs are pretty close to the bottom of the pecking order; in America, many treat dogs no differently than they do humans. I am certain no Chinese restaurant in the US would be foolish enough to do this. If they wouldn’t run afoul of the law, they certainly would lose 99.9% of their customers. But, in parts of China, there are animals eaten that would cause many Americans to become sick or angry.
