Do people smoke White Sage?

Upon lighting a small leaf of white sage and inhaling the smoke through the mouth and nose, holding it for about 10-30 seconds, I noticed an immediate relaxed state. It was almost the same feeling as a 30 minute to an hour deep meditation session gives. This state lasted only about 15 minutes, but the relaxation of my whole body on a physical level lasted all day. It is great for the beginning of a meditation session, healing work or just self clearing. And, I did not roll it with any paper. I lit the dried leaf itself and inhaled the smoke from very close to the leaf through the air. more

I haven't personally known of anyone to smoke this, but I've heard of Sage of the Seers (salvia divinorum) usage and may very well try it in the future. From what I've read, salvia apiana is most often used as a smudge stick. more

It is an incense that people just breathe in naturally. It has a calming effect. Yet in density it can be very sickening. Like inside a vehicle, it gets pretty dense, and overpowering. more

Genereally what's smoked is Saliva Divinorum, (the Diviner's Sage, ect...) for it's psychoactive properties. White sage is, as mentioned before, used most commonly as a smudge stick. However I find the smoke to have a relaxing and calming effect, not necessarily a high or anything, but it's definitely something. At least for me. more
