Do pet turtles need constant sunlight?

I can’t say much about painted turtles as I’m not familiar with their care and keeping. But they almost certainly do need some sort of full spectrum exposure as most turtles do. Sliders, I know, need UVB/UVA light, you MUST provide them with a bone dry full spectrum basking area every day. It’s essential to their processing of calcium, some vitamins and general health. It should be around 10 degrees warmer than the water, which should be in the low 70’s. They should be left on at least 8 hours. I keep my slider’s light on around 14 hours a day, she basks as she wants and it doesn’t seem to bother her having it on so long. I just answered a lot of slider question for another Askviller so I’ll just copy/paste the same here 🙂 It’s not in any particular order, so there may be some repetition. Baby sliders need to be fed pretty much every day, as much as they’ll eat in about 20 or so minutes. Over a year or so old they should be fed every few days, same guidelines. Once they reach adulthoo
