Do Pills and IUDs cause ectopic pregnancy?
Researchers believe that pills and IUDs greatly reduce the risk of ectopic pregnancy. The rate of ectopic pregnancy among women who use the pill is 48 per 10,000 women per year while the rate of ectopic pregnancy among women with IUDs is 12 per 10,000 women per year. Women who use IUDs have a lower risk of ectopic pregnancy than women who use no contraceptive method at all.
