Do pineapples grow on trees?

NO they grow like a bromeliad plant/ It look just like the pineapple tops only a lot bigger, then they grow a spike from the center part that grows little pineapples that get bigger and bigger. You can start your own plant from those tops. I’ve done that many times and even grown my own pineapple. I’ve got one that looks like it will spike this year here in upstate New York. Of course I bring it indoors for the winter, but it sure loves the rain all summer long.
