Do platelets or FFP count as transfusions?
Yes. Transfusions of any type of blood product now count as transfusions on the State Screen. Please collect the first specimen prior to transfusing any type of blood product. The baby was transfused at the referring hospital, but I dont know the date of the last transfusion. You can check the discharge summary or chart from the referring hospital, call the blood bank or nursery at the referring hospital, or leave the form with a note to “HOLD for Susan Elliott, and phone or e-mail Susan Elliott with the request for transfusion information.
