Do pre-ordered CDs count for the Billboard charts?
If someone puts a small deposit down for a CD and then goes to pay the rest of the CD off and purchase it when the CD actually releases, then yes, the purchase counts towards the Billboards. Same as if someone pays for the full CD beforehand and then picks it up at release. As long as the money was made during or before the week after the album releases, then it counts towards that first week’s Billboard ranking.
