Do Raccoons really carry Rabies virus?

You would know if the animal had rabies, the symptoms would be there. The raccoon can’t be a carrier for the disease. It either has it or doesn’t. A vet will have to check out the animal before it becomes a pet (i’m pretty sure), and they will know if it has rabies. There is a vaccine for animals, but I don’t have much info on it. It is a type of food for them and I know that dogs get it. Alnd there is a rabies vaccines recommended for people who handle animals that are at risk. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2105925,00.asp hope this helps!
