Do rat terriers ever calm down?

0

I don’t have a rat terrier, but I DO have a Jack Russell Terrier, which is very similar. We got her as a puppy, and her energy level was the same as yours. She would play and play forever, and would run after a ball for as long as we would throw it. She was great fun, but absolutely exhausting. She didn’t start calming down and become a good lap dog until she was about 9 or 10 years old. Seriously! My other problem with her is her big dog attitude in a little dog body. She would take on dogs three times her size, so be careful about that too. I said I would never get a terrier again, although mine has all in all been a good little dog. She is almost 15 now, and is finally calm, although all that crazy terrier energy is turning into aggression. I love her, but never again! I’m getting to old to keep up with her! I commend you for rescuing her! That is a wonderful thing you did. But if you aren’t prepared to handle all the energy, you may want to find another foster home for her. Good lu
