Do rats need their nails clipped?

Not really. They can wear their nails down by walking and playing, but some rats do keep nong, pin-like nails unless you do extra things, like putting a brick under the water bottle. Some shows require rats have their nails clipped, and you can certainly do this regularly if you like. Use a normal pet nail trimmer, and have some towels/powder handy in case you accidentally cut the quick. (Try to avoid this! Not only does it bleed, but it hurts!
