Personally I think not, but people are entitled to their opinion, and grounding is a big thing with many spiritual healers, and many other complementary therapists. My theory is that when you do Reiki, or other therapies after being attuned to Reiki, then the flow of Reiki which passes from the Universal Energy Field via the practitioner automatically has both a self-healing and grounding effect. Further, the meditation techniques applied during Reiki treatment are also very grounding or centring. I do know that non-Reiki Therapists become drained of personal vitality when they give treatment, hence the emphasis on ‘protection/grounding’. This is caused by the depletion of personal reserves of chi/ki, and some specific forms of personal chi/ki associated to the organ systems/elemental energy, hence if the client’s energy is weak say in the lungs (metal), then they will draw that quality from the practitioner, thus weakening lung (metal), and occasionally their symptoms are mirrored for
