Do ridge vents work?

A. Barely. They can reduce attic temperatures 10-15 degrees, which is totally inadequate. They also do little to reduce moisture, but the big problem occurs when driven rain comes in through these vents. Insurance will not cover damage to attics as a result of wind-blown rain through ridge vents. Solar attic fans have a very low footprint and are well-covered.
