Do Search Engines Use META Tags?

0

The majority of the major search engines prefer to index text that is clearly visible to the user and consider invisible text, like META tags, “untrustworthy” so they do not use the META “keyword” tag while searching. The search engines that do support META tags use them along with the words that appear on the web site. So, keyword rich content is still the the best way to be found by a search engine. Why Use META Tags? • Although the META “keyword” tag is not used by most search engines, META tags are still an important part of your web page. Here are some of ones you should include: • Title – Used in the top bar of the browser window and the default bookmark (favorites) name. • Description – The description of your site used by the search engines. If one is not included the search engine will make up its own using random excerpts from your page. • Keyword – Many experts believe that including a keyword in both your META tags and in the body of your page can help improve your rankings

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
